Recycling bag scheme launched

News >>

Premier Waste Management are trialing a new way to collect plastic bottles and cardboard.

Selected bin routes in City of Durham Council, South Tyneside Council and Easington Dirstic Council will be issued with a roll of orange plastic sacks. The householder can recycle their plastic bottles and cardboard by putting them into the sack tying the top then placing it inside their household waste wheelie bin. This means the sacks are collected during the normal bin collection, using the standard refuse lorry.

Once at a materials recycling facility the bags can be seperated out, split open and the contents bailed for recycling.

The residual waste from these collection will then be fed into Parc tower 3.
